Expo 2015 - Interactive multimedia table for The Holy See pavilion

Mammafotogramma was in charge of creating the main video installation for the Holy See pavilion at the 2015 Expo in Milan, in which the theme ‘Not by Bread Alone’ was encapsulated in the image of a table: an object capable of conveying various symbolic meanings. Around the table, various human communities gather, socialise, exchanges ideas, knowledge and values.

Idea & Creation: Mammafotogramma

Technique: Interactive installation consisting of video projections on a wooden table activated by proximity sensors

Client: The Holy See

The installation featured an interactive table made out of wood, including video projections and sensors, with a surface area of 11 x 1.2 metres divided into 14 sections. In each section a scene filmed in various work spaces is projected: an artisan’s workshop, a kitchen, a games room, an office, etc.

The video projection is activated when one of the 14 sections is approached, which then communicates with the other active surrounding sections in that moment. The result is a fully unique interactive experience, playing with the exchange between the various human communities represented.
